About This Service
The perinatal period brings profound shifts to the body and nervous systemโwhether you're preparing to welcome life, navigating the fourth trimester, or healing from loss. Through specialized Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), we offer a supportive space to reduce physical discomfort, regulate stress, and promote healing from the inside out.
Prenatal Lymphatic Drainage
Safe and soothing throughout all trimesters (with OB/midwife clearance as needed), prenatal MLD helps:
- Reduce swelling in the feet, legs, and hands
- Alleviate pregnancy-related sinus pressure, headaches, or fatigue
- Support relaxation, circulation, and parasympathetic regulation
- Prepare the body for labor and postpartum healing
MLD is performed with you in supported, side-lying or semi-reclined positions for maximum comfort and lymphatic flow.
Postpartum Lymphatic Drainage
Postpartum MLD gently encourages detoxification and tissue healing after delivery. Sessions support:
- Drainage of excess fluids from labor or IV medications
- Relief from breast engorgement or early lymphatic congestion
- Healing at cesarean or perineal sites (when medically appropriate)
- Rebalancing the nervous system during early motherhood
MLD also plays a role in supporting milk flow and relieving clogged ducts (in collaboration with your IBCLC or medical provider).
Lymphatic Support After Pregnancy Loss
Whether due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or medical termination, the physical body still undergoes significant lymphatic, hormonal, and emotional changes. Lymphatic therapy in these moments can:
- Support natural detoxification after anesthesia or hormonal shifts
- Ease uterine and abdominal congestion
- Provide grounding and gentle regulation for the nervous system
- Create space for restoration, reflection, and reconnection
Each session is trauma-informed and paced according to your comfort, readiness, and consent.
What to Expect
Our perinatal lymphatic sessions are tailored to each stage of pregnancy and postpartum recovery. The treatment involves:
- Gentle, rhythmic movements that follow lymphatic pathways
- Special positioning for comfort and safety
- Customized pressure based on individual needs
- Education on self-care techniques between sessions
- A relaxing, nurturing environment
Sessions typically last 60-90 minutes, with the first session including a comprehensive consultation to understand your specific needs and pregnancy history.
